The Phoenix and Scottsdale area is a wonderful place to come to in the winter. That’s why we residents live here. We don’t love the scortching summers, but winter is very nice. Tourism is a huge industry. The hotels are fabulous, and this is a golfer’s paradise. There is the Fiesta Bowl, then every 4-5 years the Super Bowl. The Phoenix open is touted as the routiest tourney on the PGA tour. Then we get into Spring Training and thousands of fans come pouring in. One common thread that I have seen over the past several years is that many visitors get DUI’s. Out west, we don’t have much mass transit and everything is spread out. So, everybody rents a car. Please understand, arizona has the toughest DUI laws in this country. The slogan is “come to Arizona to play, leave with a DUI.” The consequences of a DUI in Arizona are quite severe. Jail is mandatory as well as ignition interlock device. When you don’t live here, many think that they can just go home and forget about it. Wrong. DUI is a criminal offense. If you blow it off, then a warrant for arrest is issued. Once your home state gets wind of it you could get suspended there until you face the music. For years, I have handled this type of situation for out of state clients. Most times you never have to come back, but the case is handled properly, all possible consequences are addressed and you don’t have a panicked situation at home. Please call if you fit into this scenario. We can decide if I can help and if it is what you want. So don;t feel alone, many people unfortunately come here on vacation and leave on probation.
